Ba da, Cornel Mihalache, ati mintit poporul cu televizorul! CM, 2011: “[inainte de 22] Securitatea a fost desteapta si vicleana, si a facut in decembrie un pas inapoi…A lasat Armata sa participe singura la represiunea…[dupa 22] Partidul si Armata ca sa se salveze, s-a razbunat, si au incercat sa distruga Securitatea….”

TVR (and former Sahia film) documentary maker Cornel Mihalache said in an interview back in 2006 that “Nobody has told me that I have lied” in his already-then multiple films about December 1989 (https://www.capital.ro/cornel-mihalache-8220nimeni-nu-mi-a-spus-ca-am-mintit8221-22578.html).  Well, this researcher is willing to say that.  Through the years Mihalache has hosted in these documentaries a who’s who of former Securitate officers, collaborators, and informers:  for the former too many to name here but see the kid glove interviews with former Securitate officers from Timisoara (including Radu Tinu), Iasi, and Sibiu for starters in the most recent “Decembrie Rosu” series; Alex Mihai Stoenescu, Ion Cristoiu, Doru Viorel Ursu (former Interior Minister in the early FSN/FDSN years!); or invocations of Cornel Ivanciuc, Pavel Corut, Valentin Raiha, s.a.m.d.  Mihalache and his recent sidekick, Razvan Butaru, defend themselves with wonderfully circular reasoning…well, what these people have said has been proved right in the ensuing years!  Unfortunately, a lot of otherwise well-meaning people have been taken in by Mihalache’s manipulative documentaries through the years.  As a primer, one can read either what Mihalache has written, or some of the analysis of his films going back to 1998.  From the beginning, Mihalache has exonerated and downplayed any culpability for the Securitate not just in the post-22 December terrorism, but tellingly, also in the pre-22 December repression!  Only he can explain to us why that is, but at least his potential audience should know where he is coming from and why those of us who have researched this subject in depth for so many years do not trust him and question his work.
